Tips for bakery design: build in line with your branding

Put these displays in prominent areas, near doorways, windows, or on countertops that can be seen from all around the premises. Consider adding attractive props such as decorated plates, platters, and extra décor to give the display more impact. While documenting the essentials makes certain you won't forget to include anything in your layout, this is only the beginning of bakery design. It's also important to think about what colors you want to use to theme your shop, sign placement, lighting, etc.

Let's talk about your offer!

The bakery is known for its artisanal breads, pastries, and cakes, all of which are made from scratch using high-quality ingredients. Secondly, I think lining the bottom shelf of the display with a white base could make it feel more crisp and inviting to the customer. Additionally, the floors are white-washed to counter-balance the darkness of the ceiling and the brick-wall-backdrop. Another way to break up a rustic-loft feel space of a bakery is to add some mint-green! Your commercial bakery design layout gives you an idea how many guests you can accommodate, the restaurant furniture you need, where to store your equipment, and have your daily workflow come into fruition. Seeing your plan drawn out on paper or on a computer screen will give you a better understanding of your bakery business and help you organize everything else. Your bakery floor plan should be equally efficient and visually appealing which can ultimately maximize your service and profits. In addition to considering aesthetics and as previously mentioned, it's essential to think about functionality when designing your bakery interior.

We also considered the wild-card – we looked for budding designers with promising portfolios or interesting contributions to the field. This project consists of a new design of a third bakery in Madrid which makes bread and cakes. The client believes that every bakery should be unique and different to the other ones and the only specific design request is the use of their color, magenta. The building is located in the historic center of the town of Alcala de Henares.

A similar approach, but with entirely different results, was taken by the designers of Il Lago Bakery and Wine, located in the lobby of the MVL Hotel in Seoul. 10 Hidden Costs of Cruising and How to Save Money

how much does a cruise ship cost per person

If you’re not a fan of paying a la cart for your cruise vacation and just want everything lumped together, you can opt for an all-inclusive cruise. Some cruise lines that are considered all-inclusive include Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Seabourn Cruise Line, Silversea Cruises, and Viking. On most 7-day sailings the cost of taxes and fees will range from $100 to $200 per person. Again, it should be noted that if you sail on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship the prices will more closely resemble the fares on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. But since NCLH as a company reports Oceania and Regent Seven Seas along with Norwegian Cruise Line ships the numbers will seem a little more inflated. Onboard spending includes anything purchased on the ship, in addition to services and beverage packages purchased before the cruise.

For instance, cruise line private islands often have much of what you need already included. Other ports might include a stop at a restaurant, some souvenir shopping, and buying drinks. That said, we can get a good idea of what you’ll spend. All the major cruise lines are public companies that publish annual figures for their revenue and passenger statistics. Think that the cost of a cruise is simply the fare that you pay to get on the ship?

How much does a cruise cost for a solo traveler?

If we look at the MSC Virtuosa cruise ship cost per tonnage, we get a price tag showing $5,177 per GT. The ship measures 169k gross tons and is one of the largest in the fleet. If we look at the Odyssey of the Seas cruise ship cost per tonnage, we get a price tag showing $5,550 per GT. If we look at the Spectrum of the Seas cruise ship cost per tonnage, we get a price tag showing $5,569 per GT. The ship measures 172k gross tons and is one of the largest in the fleet. If we look at the MSC Bellissima cruise ship cost per tonnage, we get a price tag showing $5,536 per GT.

How much is a typical cruise fare?

Others have to book a cross-country flight and a hotel stay the night before. Onboard Spending (~$85-$120 per day)By far the biggest expense of taking a cruise is the fare, but onboard spending can be a considerable chunk of change. As a rule of thumb, the more ports of call, the higher these fees can be.

Map of Disney Cruise Destinations and Ports of Call

how much does a cruise ship cost per person

Experience the magic of the first-ever Disney Cruise Ship, the Disney Magic. Despite its smaller size, this enchanting vessel boasts 11 decks and 875 cabins for an unforgettable journey. Please note that these destinations may vary depending on the specific cruise itinerary, season, and availability. It’s always best to check with Disney Cruise Line directly for the most up-to-date information on their cruise destinations.

The average cost of a specialty dining experience is around $30-$40 per person. However, this price can vary depending on the type of restaurant. For example, a steakhouse on a luxury cruise ship might cost more than a casual restaurant on a budget-friendly cruise line. In addition to the cost of the cruise itself, you’ll also need to budget for drinks while onboard. Most cruise lines offer a la carte prices for alcoholic drinks, and the price can add up quickly. So, whether you’re a budget-conscious Jack Sparrow or a lavish Captain Hook, there’s a cruise out there with your name on it.

Is a cruise fare similar to a hotel room price or airfare?

It's also interesting to look at the Disney Fantasy cost per cabin. Some quick math shows that Disney paid roughly $760k per cabin for this ship. It's also interesting to look at the Costa Smeralda cost per cabin. Some quick math shows that Costa paid roughly $364k per cabin for this ship. It's also interesting to look at the Quantum of the Seas cost per cabin. Some quick math shows that Royal Caribbean paid roughly $517k per cabin for this ship.

Is it Worth Going on a Disney Cruise?

Most people decide to upgrade to nicer cabin, increasing the price. Finally, quoted cruise fares don’t include taxes and port fees. In total, the price you actually pay can be double or triple that headline rate that’s advertised.

A Carnival cruise costs from $129 (£98) for a 2-night Bahamas cruise in an Inside Stateroom to $4,019 (£3,079) for a 15-night cruise in a Suite. The aim of this data is to give you a rough idea of the average cruise prices for each cruise line. At the time of this article, there is a 7-day cruise for only $116 per person per day. They have special offers for different sailings, military rates, Florida resident rates, and Candian-Resident savings. So, put down the deposit early and then your final payment isn’t due until 120 days before the cruise. Unlike most cruises on Disney cruises, Guests can also enjoy endless soda for no additional fee.

The hotel itself was booked using Wyndham Rewards Points, but you should budget for lodging if you book a pre- or post-cruise stay. Use Your Own Camera or Consider Photo PackagesIf you're worried about blowing your budget on photos, just say "no thanks" when the ship's photographer asks to take your picture. Or resist the urge to check out the photo in the gallery -- once you see the printed version, you're more likely to want it. Take your own pictures, and rely sparingly, if at all, on the ship's photographers. Cruise travelers are often lured into dropping big bucks at the onboard photo gallery, where an 8x10 photo can easily cost more than $20.

The only cruise ship available in Europe is the Disney Magic, which happens to be one of my favorites and the first ship we ever sailed on. For a 7-night trip, the cost per person per day falls between $189 and $397 on average. The cost of a Disney Cruise varies depending on the size and composition of each family. In our case, as a family of four (two adults and two kids), we have considered a specific price. This all-inclusive package encompasses everything necessary for the cruise experience, and in certain itineraries, it even includes shore excursions and adult beverages.

Finally, how are you going to get to and from the port? Unless you’re lucky enough to live next to one, you’re probably going to have to budget for transportation costs. Flights, car rentals, hotels – it all adds to the total cost of your cruise trip.

If you want to book a cabin with an ocean view, a balcony or any other upgrades, expect to pay an upcharge. However, you can obtain a more affordable rate by booking a standard room. This means you can spend as much or as little as you would like, but chances are you will want to budget for some things like beverages, WiFi, or excursions. Be sure you include the total cost of your cruise when using the calculator — not just the headline price.

Legal drinking age on cruise ships: What you need to know

can you drink on a cruise ship at 18

This aligns with the legal drinking age of most states in the U.S., thereby anchoring their policy in familiar waters. On most Carnival cruises, the minimum age to buy and consume alcoholic drinks on the ship is 21. The only exception is for cruises sailing from Australia, where the minimum drinking age is 18.

Can you drink on Royal Caribbean at 18?

Outside of Us territorial waters, 18 to 20-year-olds can buy and consume beer and wine only   They will not be able to drink hard liquor until they are 21. Passengers disembarking from and sailing in US waters are not allowed to buy or consume alcohol until the age of 21. However, be prepared for the possibility that you might not be able to consume alcohol on the ship, depending on the cruise line’s policies. In most cases, if a U.S. or Middle Eastern port is on your itinerary, you won’t be allowed to drink at 18, even when the ship is in international waters. Outside of the United States, different embarkation locations may offer varying drinking age restrictions.

Carnival Cruise Lines Policies

For further clarification of the rules, I’ve covered them beneath the table and links to the cruise line policy so you can double-check the details yourself. When not traveling, she enjoys relaxing in Priority Pass lounges with tea and battling slow Wi-Fi. Join her as she shares cruise insights and explores the world, one voyage at a time.

What Cruise Lines Allow Drinking at 18 Years Old?

Cruise lines employ sommeliers in the main restaurants to help you choose the perfect wine for your meal. If you wish to order a bottle of wine, you're not required to finish it in one sitting. Just ask your waiter to cork it and save it for you, and you can access it from any restaurant on a subsequent day. As of October 2023, Royal Caribbean's just-for-grownups Solarium is restricted to use by passengers 18 and older. Note that while most youth programming is included, Royal Babies and Tots is an additional fee of $6 per hour per child from 9am-6pm and $8 per hour per child from 6pm-midnight.

That said, you’ll notice that most cruise ships sailing from North America have a minimum drinking age of 21 years to abide by United States law. This is despite Mexico and some places in Canada having minimum drinking ages of 18 or 19. Across the rest of the world, the drinking age varies from 18 to 21 years old, including in some US cruise lines, although parental permission may be required. Cruise line policies vary, but most allow 18-year-olds to be in bars and nightclubs on their own or with adult family and friends. However, the drinking age is 21 on ships visiting the US or sailing with US-based cruise lines. The legal drinking age in international waters is defined by the rest of the cruise itinerary.

Drinking responsibly is important to avoid ruining your vacation and that of others. For example, some cruise ships allow passengers as young as 18 into the casino, but you must be 21 to drink on the ship. Therefore, you may be given a wristband to indicate to the staff that you are underage. The exception is when the ship is in U.S. waters and the minimum drinking age is 21.

The drinking age decreases to 18 on sailings that depart from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. A minimum age requirement of 6 months is enforced, except on sailings where there are three or more consecutive days at sea. There are, however, some exclusions if the ship travels more than three miles outside of US territorial seas.

can you drink on a cruise ship at 18

However, sailings from Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, and New Zealand have a legal drinking age of 18 on Princess cruise ships, and cruises between Japanese ports have a minimum age of 20. For destinations departing from Europe, anyone 18 to 20 may have their parents sign an alcoholic beverage consent form, allowing them to consume alcohol while in an adult’s presence. Once you leave the ship, you are governed by the laws and regulations of the port city. In other words, if the country’s legal drinking age is 18, you can consume alcohol in ports of call, even if the ship’s drinking age is 21.

Norwegian cruise line allows passengers aged 18 – 20 to drink alcohol onboard once they are out of international waters. Virgin Voyages allows passengers 18 and older to drink responsibly in international waters, with a focus on curated cocktails and mindful consumption. Their ships boast stunning designs and offer an adults-only experience. We’ll help you understand the minimum drinking age on a cruise ship to help you prepare for your next vacation. However, cruise lines have different policies when it comes to traveling unaccompanied at that age.

MSC Cruises allows guests aged 18 and older to drink on all cruises except those which feature a North American or Caribbean port of call. Most Caribbean cruises include a US port, even if it is just the home port, and so guests must be 21 or older to drink while on the ship, even while sailing the Caribbean. 18- to 20-year-olds can disembark at most Caribbean islands and drink in private bars not run by the cruise line, though. On most cruise lines' ships, alcoholic drinks cost extra and incur an automatic 15 to 20 percent service fee.

The only main cruise line which offers drinking to 17 years olds is P&O cruises which allow alcohol with a meal to anyone over 16 years of age. If 18-year-olds are deemed underage, they should not be by drinking in their cabins. However, it is not unheard of for teens to smuggle or sneak alcohol to their cabins. This is likely to go unnoticed unless the teens in question overindulge and get caught outside the cabin inebriated. One exception is the British cruise line P&O Cruises which allows 16 and 17-year-olds to drink alcohol with a meal.

Some cruise lines permit 18-year-olds to drink in international waters, while others adhere to stricter regulations, especially for US-based itineraries. Port age restrictions may also affect drinking privileges, as some ports may have higher legal drinking ages. Violating alcohol policies can result in consequences like refusal of service, fines, or even disembarkation. It’s crucial to research and understand the specific policies of the chosen cruise line and all ports of call to avoid unpleasant consequences. Ultimately, underage drinking should be approached with caution to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, regardless of personal desires or circumstances.

Nonetheless, should your voyage commence from regions such as South America, Asia, Europe, New Zealand, or Australia the permitted age for alcohol consumption is reduced to 18. The rules vary by cruise line, but most allow 18-year-olds to hang out at bars or nightclubs on their own, or with family and friends who are also 18+. But do note that the drinking age on all ships that visit the U.S., as well as on many U.S.-based cruise lines sailing anywhere in the world, is 21.

Located on 57thand 58th street, MTP is directly across the street from the cruiseterminal, so there’s no shuttle needed after you park your car. For a couple of reasons, we usually suggest going with another option than a cruise shuttle transfer. First, it is expensive if traveling with more than just one or two people..

Brooklyn Cruise Terminal Guide: Everything You Need to Know

As of September 2016, NYCEDC has responsibility for the system's operations and maintenance. In March 2006, some passenger terminals were transferred (as management) to DP World (Dubai-based corporation). The agreements were designed to increase revenues and sustainability/emissions reduction, with term lengths ranging between 3-15 years, each with an optional 5-year renewal.

For the tinier family members, there’s also Tisch’s Children’s Zoo, where you and your kids can feed pygmy goats, pigs, and many other animals. You can also visit the Museum of Jewish Heritage, TheMetropolitan Museum of Art (MET), National Museum of the American Indian,Cloisters Museum (which is a branch of the MET), and so many more. There are plenty of bars and clubs available for any tastesor preferences (jazz, dance, comedy, late night dining, etc.). There are even afew spots that let minors in for some fun (minus the alcohol, of course). Standard metered fare starts at $2.50, adding 50 cents per half mile (or 60 seconds in slow or stopped traffic).

From our research, these packages also apply to cruises out of either Cape Liberty or Manhattan. Parking.com has three locations where you can park and thenwalk to the Manhattan Cruise Terminal. We recommend NOT choosing the BMWbuilding, as that will cost you $57 per night ($50 per night if you use acoupon). ParkingPanda uses the same lots as SpotHero, and it lookslike at the same rates as well. The same spot we mentioned above, 330 W 56thStreet, is available through ParkingPanda for the same cost, $245 for 7 days. You can book your parking directly through their website ordownload the SpotHero app (iPhone or Android) and use that instead.

You can still choose to drive yourself, even if you areflying into the city. There are many rental companies available to get a carfrom in Manhattan. You can easily pick up a car at the airport from Enterprise,Avis, or Hertz, or any other company, and drop off the car just a few blocksaway from the cruise terminal. There are other numerous ways to get to the terminal ifdriving is not your chosen mode of transportation. Depending on how you plan totravel, where you’re traveling from, and what airport you may be flying into, there is no shortage of options.

By downloading the app, you can call a car on demand, anywhere in the New York/New Jersey area. So even if you are flying into Newark or staying outside the city proper, you can still get a ride. At the top of all the piers, there is a building with dedicated parking lots, snack bars, restrooms, check-in, VIP areas, customs, newsstands.

The redeveloped terminals also segregated embarking and disembarking passengers onto separate levels, allowing for more efficient use of passenger space and reducing congestion. The Manhattan cruise terminal is one of two cruise terminals that make up the Port of New York. Upon disembarkation from your cruise, you'll be picking up your bags and going through customs on the street level of the Manhattan port.

At around 180,000 tons, they rank at No. 15 and No. 13, respectively, among the world's largest cruise ships — the only Carnival ships to crack the Top 20. One more ship in the series — Carnival Jubilee — will arrive in December 2023.

And you'll get more of them, too, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing plenty of looking-glass for gazing at the natural wonders of the sea... Think nightly dance parties in White Heat Dance Club, movies under the stars on the pool deck, and tacos from BlueIguana Cantina. The ship sails around the Bahamas, Caribbean, and more on two to 10-day itineraries. Before committing to a cruise, I break down the price per person per night, particularly if I need multiple cabins because I'm traveling with a group. I recommend you take advantage of Carnival's convenient 24-hour reservation hold, which displays the total cost, itinerary, and a countdown timer so you know when to purchase to secure the locked-in price.

With two to nine-day cruises from Tampa to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, Carnival Paradise literally takes cruisers to paradise islands. The ship brims with fun amenities like the WaterWorks splash zone and the relaxing Cloud 9 Spa. Carnival Spirit sets sail from home ports around the United States to Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal. The ship offers a wide range of entertainment options, including mini-golf, a jogging track, kids clubs, and adult-centric entertainment. Carnival Splendor sails the Southern Hemisphere around Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific on cruises that range from two to 10 days.

One afternoon later in the sailing, two different crew members approached me a total of six times in less than half an hour while I was having lunch on the Lido deck. The first five times, I simply said, "No, thanks." After the sixth time, I had enough and told them nicely but firmly to stop asking me. I found the high-pressure sales tactics excessive and irritating when all I wanted to do was eat my meal in peace. Even on port days, when most passengers are ashore, the public areas are filled with loud music that makes it hard to find a quiet escape.

Shaq's Big Chicken, a restaurant backed by basketball great Shaquille O'Neal (who is also Carnival's CFO, chief fun officer), is perfect if you have a hankering for some fried chicken. In addition to chicken strips, sandwiches and fries, the counter-service venue also serves breakfast. Do yourself a favor and try the chicken and biscuit combo with fries. The space is simply packed with tables — so much so that there were only about two inches between my table and the one next to me, even though I was dining alone. It then took nearly 10 minutes for a waiter to bring me water and another 10 before someone came to take my order. Dinner reservations are recommended for many eateries, even the main dining rooms.

Start by exploring the incredible ports we visit… and the fun things to do, both on the ship and ashore. Carnival Jubilee has self-service pressing rooms on decks 4, 5, 9, 14 and 15 with ironing boards and irons that are free to use. Instead, passengers can send out their clothing for washing, pressing and dry-cleaning for a per-item fee. The third and fourth quarters occur in the Summer Landing zone; passengers can rope hay bales, participate in a hot wing-eating contest at Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse and follow it up with music from a live band. The second quarter involves pool deck games where passengers have to dress up in football gear to complete team races. I'm not a huge drinker, so I didn't personally try cocktails from the Center Stage Bar (Deck 6) or Grand View Bar (Deck 7) in Grand Central.

With the latter, you can team up with your friends and family to play giant versions of Connect 4 Basketball or Simon Flash in front of a live audience. Carnival also uses its big theaters for lots of interactive shows that involve you, the passenger, getting a little silly. They include Lip Sync Battle Carnival — a shipboard adaptation of the Paramount Network TV series — and Hasbro, the Game Show. Every Carnival ship has one big theater where you'll often find flashy, fast-paced production shows that string together a medley of loosely related tunes. Designed to be quick and digestible, they typically last around 30 minutes and have relatively small casts (just eight on some ships). Carnival trips are all about letting loose and having a good time.

After all, Carnival vessels are known as the Fun Ships, but some of it seems unnecessary. There, you can order any of the same coffee beverages you'll find at JavaBlue but in far less time. If you're feeling more like a cocktail, you can grab one of those, too. On my sailing, the bartenders were phenomenal and even remembered that I prefer non-dairy milk with my lattes. Other venues in the area include the Marina Bar for cocktails and coffee, complimentary Italian restaurant Cucina del Capitano and for-fee seafood eatery Rudi's Seagrill, created by food pop artist chef Rudi Sodamin. On the wall above Dr. Inks, window-shaped screens provide a show for anyone passing through the length of the Currents promenade area.

Carnival Dream also features the borderline-magical Alchemy Bar® and Ocean Plaza, which combines tasty treats with perhaps even tastier entertainment. Entertainment options are all up and down the ship, and so is soaking-wet fun, from the heart-racing waterslide action at Carnival WaterWorks™ to the soul-soothing Thalassotherapy pool at the Cloud 9 Spa™. They’re not plays, they’re not exactly concerts… these shows are something else entirely. Every performances is built on amazing songs you know and love, presented like you’ve never seen before. Then they sometimes leave the stage behind, like in The Most Magnificent Circus and We Are One where they soar above the audience. Or Color My World, a show where they break into actual live-graffiti painting, right on stage.

At the time of publication, prices started from $709 per person ($101 per person per night) for an inside cabin or $919 per person ($131 per person per night) for balcony accommodations. Back inside, Deck 6's Piano Bar is where passengers can order a tipple while an onboard pianist tickles the ivories. Make your way up a deck, and you'll find the Limelight Lounge, which serves as a secondary performance space and trivia outpost. I also missed out on the RedFrog Tiki Bar, a two-deck (decks 16 and 17), hut-style setup that replaces the RedFrog Rum Bar found on many other Carnival ships' pool decks. It's where you'll find the most quintessentially tropical menu of mixed drinks on board.

(Plus, don't forget the amazing destinations to see!) Best of all, at the end of the day... Remember that your vacation on Carnival Sunrise features another great one tomorrow. Carnival cruises are casual, with shorts, tee shirts, capris, swimsuits or swim cover-ups de rigueur during the day (no bathing suites in the dining venues, however). Most nights, the dress code on a Carnival Cruises remains much the same, minus the swimwear, though technically the cruise line asks that people not wear shorts into the main dining room.

Like other big-ship operators, Carnival packs a lot of dining options onto its vessels — some included in the price, some at an extra charge. Each of the vessels in Carnival's recent Vista Class series, for instance, offers fewer than 75 suites. Each of the line's earlier Conquest Class ships has around 50 suites. The oldest Fantasy Class vessels have 28 suites and 26 junior suites. You'll find at least one of its ships sailing out of pretty much every major port city around the country.
